I have a lot of problems with the idea of benchmarks, especially for a course like this, a course freely taken (and freely offered). One, practical probllem is the implication that skills will be acquired in a particular order, and that is not so. Nonetheless, for what they are worth:
These banchmarks are written as "I can" statements.
BENCHMARK 1
I can:
- Register with Second Life
- Create and name an avatar
- Make my avatar walk
BENCHMARK 2
I can:
- Make my avatar "Walk here."
- Use movement controls
- Make my avatar sit
- Make my avatar stand up
- Make my avatar fly
- Take snapshots
- Use camera controls
BENCHMARK 3
I can:
- Make friends
- Join groups
- Accept invitations to teleport
- Teleport
- Set the various controls for voice
- Search for places
- Use the World Map to obtain a SLURL
BENCHMARK 4
I can:
- Use notecards
- Collect landmarks
- Upload single images
- Use IM communication
- Set the various controls for voice
